San Francisco’s Financial District is the major commercial center of the city. All of the city’s Fortune 500 companies, including Wells Fargo and Charles Schwab, are found here, providing ample job opportunities to the area. A historic neighborhood, the Financial District is home to some of the city’s oldest restaurants, including Tadich Grill and the Old Ship Saloon. Unlike other cities where the financial districts go quiet after office hours, local Jackson Square offers plenty of dining and nightlife destinations.

While the Financial District is primarily a business area, many professionals choose to live here. Apartment buildings and condominiums are the most common options, and single-family homes are rare. Since the 1980s, the community has implemented restrictions on the construction of high-rise buildings, so new constructions have moved to the South Financial District. If you’re looking for a neighborhood packed of history, nightlife, and employment opportunities, the Financial District might be right for you.
